Formation of Mixed Club

The formation of Hersham Mixed Bowling Club took place in the early 1980's, after Hersham Ladies had moved from the recreation ground adjacent to the Barley Mow public house in Hersham. Their move to play on the same green as Hersham Men's Bowls Club was accelerated due to the building of the Hersham Bypass, which was opened in 1977.

The first recorded Mixed Competition was in 1984.

In 1997 the club was awarded £60,584 from the National Lottery for the sole purpose of building a new pavilion which exists today. The total cost was in excess of £100,000 with the remainder being raised by club members, and a donation of £15,000 from Walton Charities.

The completion of the above project saw the formation of a very active Social Section and Bar, the introduction of short mat bowling, a team being entered into the local league, and many other activities which all help to make this a very successful club.
